Common questions

Questions families often ask

If your question isn’t answered here, please get in touch. Lauren is happy to talk it through, with no obligation.
Do I need a referral from my GP to arrange care?

No, you don’t need a referral to engage Fourfold. Families and individuals can reach out to us directly to arrange care. That said, we’re always happy to liaise with your GP, specialist, or existing care team to ensure your care is well coordinated.

This depends on current availability. It’s best to get in touch as soon as you know care will be needed, so there’s time to plan ahead. Once we’ve connected, Lauren will work with you to arrange a care plan that fits both your needs and her availability.

Lauren currently provides care across the Mornington Peninsula, Bayside and Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs. If you’re unsure whether your location is covered, feel free to reach out and check.

Anthroposophical nursing is a complementary therapy that works alongside traditional nursing services.

Anthroposophical nursing is a holistic approach to care that looks after the whole person – body, mind, and spirit, not just the physical symptoms. It draws on conventional nursing knowledge alongside gentle, complementary therapies such as rhythmical touch treatments, warm compresses, and natural remedies, all aimed at supporting comfort, calm, and dignity.

For palliative care, this means care that’s not only clinically skilled but also deeply personal helping to ease pain and anxiety, support restful sleep, and create a sense of peace for both the person receiving care and their family.

Yes. If at any point a hospital admission is the right choice, Lauren can support you through that transition by helping coordinate with your GP or hospital team, and ensuring relevant information about your care is passed on. Our goal is always to support the choice that’s best for you, whether that’s remaining at home or moving into hospital care.

Natural after-death care involves gently washing and preparing your loved one’s body without invasive interventions, allowing for a peaceful and dignified process. In Victoria, it’s legal to care for a body at home, and Lauren can support this using a transportable cold plate to keep the body cool, monitoring things throughout. A home vigil allows family and friends to spend unhurried time with their loved one for however long feels right, generally up to 72 hours. This gives space for goodbyes, rituals, or simply quiet presence, at your own pace and in the comfort of home.
Caring for a loved one can be just as demanding as being cared for, which is why Lauren offers one-on-one support for carers too. This includes practical guidance through the process, emotional support along the way, and being a steady resource you can turn to with questions, so you don’t have to navigate it alone. Lauren’s presence also gives you the chance to step back from your carer role when needed to rest, recharge, and refill your own cup, so you have the strength to last the journey.
